It is very compact but has enough trays to get your food dehydrated. Very quiet that you don't even hear it or realize it's on. Very easy to operate as well. If you put on a cutting board on your stove top, your vent fan can ensure your kitchen doesn't heat up. We have dehydrated veggies and made beef jerky. I did purchase the silicone sheets to place over the trays for jerky.
